Overview

The redevelopment of the Utrechtseweg in Zeist is an important step in improving infrastructure and road safety in the region. Before the municipality of Zeist put the project out to tender, Novis Group was responsible for the technical design, BIM coordination, and visual communication. We developed a reference design, which was used to structure and support the contract.

This design included the surface layout and underground utilities, as well as the structural design of various project components. Additionally, we created 3D models of signage, traffic control systems (VRI), and flora & fauna. To clearly communicate the project to residents, we developed an animation video, which was used during public consultation meetings.

BIM Coordination – Structured Data and Interface Management

Novis Group managed the BIM processes for this project, ensuring seamless coordination between all disciplines. This improved collaboration and provided clear contract documentation for the tendering process.

Technical Design and Visualization – From Model to Public Communication

In addition to technical design and 3D modeling, we developed an animation video to visually explain the project to residents and stakeholders. This contributed to transparent and effective communication.

For the Utrechtseweg in Zeist project, Novis Group played a key role in the preparation phase, even before the municipality of Zeist issued the tender. Our task was to develop a reference design that formed the basis for the contract and tendering documents. This included the technical design of the surface layout, underground utilities, and structural design, ensuring seamless coordination between disciplines.

To create a well-founded contract, we developed a wide range of 3D models. In addition to road design and underground infrastructure, we modeled signage, traffic control systems (VRI), and flora & fauna. This provided a clear representation of the future situation and facilitated better coordination between stakeholders. Additionally, we structured interface documentation to ensure that all project components were well defined within the contract.

Beyond design and modeling, we also managed the BIM coordination for the project. This involved overseeing the integration of all design data and ensuring efficient collaboration between disciplines. By conducting clash detection, we identified and resolved conflicts early, preventing delays and unexpected costs in later project phases.

Another important aspect of this project was communication with residents and stakeholders. To clearly explain the project and planned changes, we developed an animation video. This video was used during public consultation meetings to visually clarify the plans and generate community support. Thanks to this approach, we not only created a technically sound design but also enhanced public acceptance, ensuring a smoother project rollout.
